讀者 Leo 來(lái)電郵問(wèn)：下面三句都對(duì)嗎？
1. The Chair welcomes you to attend this meeting.
2. The Chair welcomes you to this meeting.
3. The Chair welcomes you for attending this meeting.
文法上三句都對(duì)。雖然第三句是有點(diǎn)不自然，但不算錯(cuò)。
Welcome 一字后面可以加 to + infinitive，也可以加 to + noun。桌上放滿食物，主人家對(duì)客人說(shuō) "You are welcomed to help yourself" 或 "You are welcomed to the food"（較常見(jiàn)的說(shuō)法是 "You are welcome to help yourself"）。Leo 提出的第一句和第二句的分別就是在此。
至于第三句的 for 是說(shuō)明理由。主席歡迎大家是因?yàn)榇蠹襾?lái)參加會(huì)議。意思沒(méi)有大的問(wèn)題，只不過(guò)聽(tīng)起來(lái)好像暗示，你如果不是為了參加會(huì)議而來(lái)，主席就不歡迎你一樣，這樣未免有點(diǎn)功利。我們換一個(gè)說(shuō)法，聽(tīng)起來(lái)就自然多了：
The Chair wants to thank you for attending this meeting.
