動詞kick表示“踢”，kick oneself 字面上的意思是“踢自己”，引申意思就是，因為做了蠢事、犯了過錯或錯過大好機會，而“自責”或“懊悔”。英文對于這個詞組的解釋是：To feel regret for missing an opportunity, or making a mistake that could have been avoided。
