讀者 Eric 在報(bào)紙上看到下面一句：
Japan and China were not agreed that the Diaoyu Islands question be shelved in their talks.
Eric 問，"were not agreed" 是被動(dòng)式還是一個(gè)作形容詞用的過去分詞？又問 "were not agreed" 可否改成 "have not agreed"？
"Were not agreed" 并不是被動(dòng)式。被動(dòng)式的動(dòng)詞必定是及物動(dòng)詞（transitive verb），agree 是非及物動(dòng)詞，并無被動(dòng)式可言。
"Were not agreed" 句型屬于 Eric 提出的另一種用法，即用作形容詞的過去分詞。我們平常聽到的 "I am pleased"、"He is interested"、"The horse is tired" 等都是這種用法。
翻譯出來，"were not agreed" 指兩者意見不一致。意思與 "have not agreed" 并沒有兩樣。然而我們需要考慮時(shí)態(tài)。原本的句子是 "were not agreed"，所以代入時(shí)也應(yīng)用同樣的時(shí)態(tài)，應(yīng)改用 "did not agree"。
句子中的 "shelved" 令我想起另一個(gè)英文字，下次探討。
