Notice on the Employment of Long-term Teaching-oriented Foreign Teachers for 2016-2017 School Year

The schedule and requirements for the recruitment of long-term teaching oriented foreign teachers for 2016-2017 school year are as follows:
Part I: Schedules and Documents Required
(I) From April 15 to April 26 Confirming Job Needs
The colleges/schools which plan to recruit new foreign teachers are expected to provide the job needs and job advertisements for 2016-2017 school year.
(II) From April 27 to May 10 The University will confirm the recruiting plan and publicize the recruiting advertisement.
(III) From May 11 to June 30 The college/schools give recommendations.
After the candidates are accessed and recommended by the Recruiting Committee and Faculty Committee of thecollege/school, the colleges/schools may submit the following application documents to Human Resources Office before June 30:
1. Summary of the Teaching Plans for the Long-term Teaching-oriented Foreign Teachers Candidates (filled by the employing institution).
2. Application Form for Foreign Candidates for Teaching Positions at Xiamen University (filled by the candidate and the employing institution).
3. Detailed CV.
4. Copy of Passport Photo page.
5. Copy of degree diplomas. In case the certificate of highest academic degree is issued by foreign authorities, the candidate must provide the Notarization/Legalization of the Embassy/Consulate of the People's Republic of China (if it is written in foreign languages, Chinese version shall be submitted) .
6. Recommendation Letter or Employment Certificate from the previous employers for all teaching experiences, to confirm the years of teaching experience (if it is a Chinese institution, Recommendation Letter Form for the Foreign Teacher or Expert should be provided, as required for visa; if it is outside boarders, no form requirements).
7.Recent detailed Health Check Report (report done within one year is preferable).
8. Health Statement.
(IV) University Approval
Approval of the Employment Report usually takes at least 10 working days.
(V) Signing the Contract
After the employment reports are approved by the university, Human Resources Office will notify each employing institution of the approval results, which should in turn inform the foreign teachers to sign the Contract and Contract Appendix with candidates who pass the approval. Those who have not arrived in Xiamen can sign the contract by email and then sign the hard copy of the Contract upon registration.
(VI) Insurance and Entrance Formalities
After the contract is duly signed, the Human Resources Office will buy group commercial health insurance for the foreign teachers who have signed the Contract in due course and inform the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange to work on his/her working permit and visa.
